How We Work
Client Service Experience
Whether we are working with an architect, interior designer, or directly with a homeowner; once we are retained we do our own site measures and architectural Autocad drawings for your design/construction team. Design drawings are produced for your use and then turned into photographic renderings before you order your cabinetry. All of our kitchen cabinets are produced in the USA and installed by our experienced carpenters. We can also provide countertops and appliances. See our resources to learn more about our vendors.
Our Process
+ Initial Consultation
The first step in the process towards achieving the kitchen of your dreams is to schedule a showroom appointment for an initial consultation which you can book on our website. In the initial consultation, we want to hear about what you want your kitchen to look like and your dream appliance package. In-home consultations are available for a visit fee of $1,250 which can be paid on our website and will be applied to your kitchen purchase, but is not refundable.
+ Retainer
Based on your initial consultation, we will develop a written budget proposal and initial design drawings so you can understand what the budget covers. If you agree that the budget is acceptable, we will require a retainer payment to move forward to the “Design Phase.” The retainer will be applied to your kitchen cabinetry purchase and is not refundable if you do not purchase your kitchen from us. Retainers are the greater of $5,000 or 10% of your kitchen budget.
+ Design Phase
In the design phase, we come to your home, take detailed measurements and make an inventory of your storage needs. We will release our drawings to your contractor, architect, interior designer and condo or co-op building. We will also determine the finishes and order the door sample for your project.
+ Contract Phase
At this point, you are ready to order your kitchen. We will review with you the photographic renderings of your kitchen. We will also walk you through the dimensioned technical drawings, storage solutions, door samples and finish samples for your approval. After review and approval, we will move to contract signing and require your 50% deposit payment for cabinetry.
+ Site Coordination
This is the service part of what we do to ensure your kitchen installation goes quickly. Townhouse Kitchens spends a great deal of time on your construction site with the general contractor checking framing dimensions, plumbing roughs and electrical requirements. While your contractor is fully responsible for these items, delays can be prevented if we work with hand in hand to make sure that no requirement for your kitchen is overlooked. This service is included in your kitchen cabinetry contract and goes a long way to ensuring a smooth installation!
+ Installation Phase
This is the moment that every homeowner waits for... delivery! Ten business days prior to delivery, we will request 45% of the cabinetry purchase price as shown in the contract. We will bring the cabinets into your home with our insured professional cabinet movers and then our experienced carpenters will take over. Most cabinet installations are completed within one week. Countertops, backsplash and plumbing will follow in the ensuing 3-5 weeks after cabinetry installation.
+ Final Unveiling
At this point, your contractor is done and ready for you to move in! At move in, we will review all of your in-cabinet accessories and any accidental finish damages that may have happened during construction. Our goal is to make sure that you are happy with the finished project. Your final 5% will be due at move in and we wish you the very best culinary experience in your new home!
Things We Don’t Do
Townhouse Kitchens is not a construction company so you will need a general contractor for the construction. Examples of construction services that should be provided by a general contractor are demolition, applications for building permits, co-op or condo alteration agreements and requirements, a licensed and insured plumber, a licensed and insured electrician, tile installers and flooring providers and installers.
